Lego KidsFest Dallas

A couple of months ago I took my son and a couple of friends to visit Legoland Discovery Center in Grapevine, Texas. He LOVED it so you can imagine his (and my) delight when I was chosen as one of four bloggers to received tickets to attend Lego KidsFest Dallas! He knew immediately which friend he would invite to go with us.
Having never been to Lego KidsFest, we didn’t know what to expect. My husband asked what we’d be doing there and all I could tell him was there would be LOTS of Lego toys.
THAT WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!
I’ve honestly NEVER seen so many Lego bricks in my life! They weren’t kidding when they said, “13,000 square feet” of Lego bricks to play with! Words don’t do it justice so I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves….
I would also add, even though we didn’t visit the areas, there are TONS of things to do for girls and smaller children.
The first place the boys headed was to the Hero Factory station.
We literally spent the first hour there. The Dallas Convention Center was the perfect place to have this event. The huge room allowed for lots of people without seeming crowded. Everyone enjoyed that!
After “dragging” them away from Hero Factory, we decided to visit the Model Museum area. The Lego life-sized characters were INCREDIBLE!
Where else can your child stick his head into the mouth of a roaring lion?
Or “hang out” with Spider Man?
And what homeschooler doesn’t dream of shaking Gandolf’s hand? (*homeschoolers are known for their love of LOTR and Hobbit)
They don’t allow you to bring concealed weapons so we were caught off guard without our Light Saber!
After we’d “met” everyone, we moved on to the LEGO Mindstorms station where Lego meets remote control. Very Cool! The boys loved these!
The staff was wonderful…very helpful and friendly! They were well organized and kept things running smoothly.
Boys always love a good battle!
The CHIMA station had “zip cord” Lego cars to race and jump. We had just been talking about these with our son a couple of days ago. He and his friend really enjoyed these.
Building and racing cars had been their favorite thing to do at Legoland Discovery Center so they were excited to be able to do that again.
Everything has to be left behind for others to play with, so we just had to get a picture of the awesome cars they built.
For those interested in learning more, there’s a class with a Master Builder. Be sure and sign up when you get there, the class space is limited.
When we arrived this space was totally empty. Here children (and adults) can add to this Lego City all weekend long. Of course, as you can see the first structure built was a large skyscraper proclaiming the fact that we are proud Texans…it’s a “Texas thang”
And then there was the GIANT pile of Lego bricks! As much fun as this was, I’m glad I’m not the one who has to pick all those up!

It was back to Hero Factory one last time before leaving.
Our “Heros” were left to battle it out as we made our way home!
The first words out of my son’s mouth as we left to go home were, “Can we come back next year?”
Lego KidsFest was great fun but it’s only here THIS weekend! The tickets are limited so buy early, online! The second session today is sold out but there are still a few tickets available for Session 1 so act FAST!
