National Buttermilk Biscuit Day

Guess what today is? National Buttermilk Biscuit Day! Clearly, invented by a Southerner. If you need a good recipe, I just happen to have one.  Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, best made with White Lily Self-Rising flour, of course.

I didn’t even know if was National Buttermilk Biscuit day!! How scrumptious! My hubby would have insisted on biscuits and gravy. He loves those. We make a stuffed biscuit and gravy that is divine. The biscuits are stuffed with eggs, bacon, and cheese, then we bake and top with sausage gravy. Yum!! Thanks for posting!

I’m a born and bred Southerner and I still struggle with biscuits. I think my problem is at the stirring in the milk stage. It’s already pretty doughy so in my mind, I’m not sure how to “stir” that. I think of stirring a liquid. Thanks for posting your recipe. I’ll never give up!

Don’t get discouraged Elizabeth. Making biscuits takes some practice. You’re right, the stirring is the tricky part, over stirring can give you the hockey puck biscuit. When I was learning, my poor grandfather had to eat plenty of imperfect patches. Thanks for stopping by and keep on trying.

These look so tasty! Totally a southern holiday. Now I know what to do with the left over buttermilk in our fridge.

Oh man! Those look scrumptious, I’d love one or two. Look how light they look. I’m hungry, haha.
