Anniversary Dinner at Gloria’s

I can hardly believe it!  We’ve been married 21 years.  Time does fly when you’re having FUN….as the old saying goes!

So, what did we do to celebrate our 21st anniversary?  The same thing we do to celebrate ALL our anniversaries (and other special occasions, too).  Went OUT to eat!

This year we chose to have our Anniversary dinner at Gloria’s in the Highlands in Arlington.

A few months ago we had the opportunity to visit Gloria’s for the first time.  Some very dear friends invited us out to dinner (just the “grown ups”). We decided to try Gloria’s because none of us had been there. My husband and I had considered going there several times, but it seemed like a “special occasion” place and we just hadn’t “gotten around to it”.  After the four of us finished our dinner it was UNANIMOUS!  We LOVED it!  I couldn’t wait to go back!

Gloria’s serves Salvadorian Food.  If you’ve never has Salvadorian food it’s probably best to just SHOW you…..

Our Appetizers….yes more than one!

glorias appetizers

Cheese dip, Tamale, and Pupusa

Chips, Salsa and Bean Dip come complimentary

glorias tamale
Tamale from Gloria’s (wrapped in a banana leaf)

Tamale…Wrapped in a Banana Leaf

Amazing!!! We shared one. They are HUGE! This was my favorite of the appetizers.

glorias papusa

Pupusas

We also shared this.  What are Pupusas?  Besides YUMMY, it is a handmade corn tortilla stuffed with pork or cheese, or you can have both pork and cheese…which we did. Not like ANY other tortilla you’ve ever had!  I Loved these as well.

For my main dish I ordered the Carne Flameada.

Danita's entree at glorias

Carna Flameada- Translation: Flamed Meat or YUM!

It comes in beef or chicken….I chose beef.

It’s a thin, flavorful, extremely tender steak covered with mushrooms and onions.

Then, to top it all off, they smother it in cheese.

It just doesn’t get  much better than that!

My husband ordered the Churrasco Tipico.

Danes entree at glorias

Steak, Plantains, Fried Yucca, Argentinean Sausage, Rice and Black Bean Soup

Also VERY Tasty!

And of course we had to get dessert……TWO!

dessert at glorias

Fried Fruit Wrap with Chocolate, Cinnamon and Ice Cream

And One of My Very Favorite Desserts………

tres leches at glorias

Tres Leches!!!

This is how we celebrated twenty-one AMAZING years of marriage!

We HIGHLY recommend Gloria’s. It’s great for any occasion….special or otherwise.

They have locations in the DFW area, Austin and Houston.  If you enjoy Latin Cuisine…..You’ll LOVE Gloria’s!

We are about to celebrate our 26 year anniversary. Was wondering of a place that was different. We will have to keep Gloria’s in mind.
