2013 – A Great Year!

Sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s only been five months since I started this blog.  It was started without much “thought” or research.  That probably isn’t the way most people start blogging, but it was the best way for me.  If I had know how much I DIDN’T know, I probably never would have attempted to start a blog.  It’s been fun, but at times a little frustrating and at other times VERY frustrating!  Since I’m not very computer “literate” that’s been my biggest challenge, followed very closely by the learning of the “blogger vocabulary”.

Well, I know I have along way to go, but I do feel like I’ve come a long way.  I certainly haven’t done it alone.  If it weren’t for my very tech savvy husband, I would have given up before I got started.  I’ve learned a lot from reading other blogs and watching numerous videos (Thanks, Pinch of Yum!)  Then there’s my friend, Esther, from Laugh With Us, who helped most with the “vocabulary”.  One day early on, she was explaining something to me and I finally just said, “I don’t even know what those words mean.” She got our her phone and took me through the process step by step…I’m kinda visual.  And my kids have always been big helpers in the kitchen.

Most of all, I’d like to thank my family for their patience.  Why patience?  Well, when you are all sitting at the dinner table waiting to eat one of your favorite dishes, but your mom has it outside taking umpteen pictures of it…that, my friend, requires patience!

Without further ado, here’s the top five posts of 2013.(based on page views) …

#5 – Texas Snow Day –  I was surprised by how many Pins this one got…it doesn’t even have a recipe, I just wanted a picture of all the cookies my girls and I baked on a rare “snow day” here in Texas.

#4 – Kit Kat Cake – Made for my daughter’s black belt party because it’s her favorite…and my husband’s favorite “candy dish”…see anecdote in instruction portion of post.

#3 – Grilled Corn on the Cob– My first (and most surprising) post to get tons of Pins!  I almost didn’t post it.  I wrote it and it sat there for weeks.  I decided to post it one day because it was all I had…who knew?

#2 – Authentic Mexican Rice – As many “Mexican” recipes as I make, it was nice to see this one do well.

AND NOW FOR #1….TACO SOUP!

It’s one of our family favorites and I’ll be making it in a couple of weeks for about 200 people…yeah, that’s going on the blog!

Have a Happy and Blessed New Year!
