Baked Ziti
This is a CRAZY busy week! I mean more CRAZY and BUSY than usual, but it’s a good thing. See, we’re getting ready to go on vacation! We haven’t been away on a real, go-out-of-state, do-something-exciting, spend-time-with-people-we-haven’t-seen-in-a-long-time, do-something-the-kids-will-remember, vacation in more years than I want to admit. So along with all our normal activities, we are preparing for the GPs (Grandparents) to arrive to house sit and trying to pack for a week long trip.
What does all that have to do with Baked Ziti? Nothing, directly but it’s a good opportunity for me to share some of my “go-to” quick and easy dishes, for those especially busy weeks when time gets away from me. It only takes three ingredients and can be prepared ahead if needed. Serve it with a little Garlic Bread or Parmesan Pull Aparts and a bag of salad mix and you have a wonderful semi-homemade dinner in the middle of a CRAZY busy week. Oh, and I almost forgot…VERY little clean-up!
Here’s the Recipe:
This is how much I make to feed our family of five, youngest being 14.
- 1- 8 oz box of ziti or penne pasta
- 1- 1 jar spaghetti sauce (we like Ragu)
- 1- 8 oz bag of Italian or Mozzarella cheese
- Italian seasoning
- *1 lb of hamburger – if you have time….I didn’t*
Boil the noodles just until done (you don’t want them mushy)
Drain and place noodles back into pot
Pour over sauce and mix until all noodles are coated (add cooked hamburger if using)
Place noodles in 9 x 13 pan
Top with the whole bag of cheese
Sprinkle with Italian seasoning
*If preparing ahead, stop, cover and refrigerate until ready to bake
Bake for about 15-20 minutes on 350 degrees

Oh baked ziti is such a good “go to” when life is busy…Plus you can have lots of leftovers for the week ahead, which is always a good thing and usually the meal ends up tasting even better after sitting in its yummy flavors. Thanks for sharing!
