Time Saving Tuesday….an easy breakfast idea to #WarmUpYourDay!
Getting up and eating breakfast together as a family is something we’ve done almost every weekday morning for many years. Some of us really enjoy breakfast and some of us…well, just come because it’s time to get the day started. At 7:30 in the morning, it’s easy to get into a “cereal rut” so I love finding new things to make that are quick and easy.
I was super excited about Pepperidge Farm’s new Cinnamon Apple Sweet Rolls! Even though they were perfectly delicious baked right out of the can I thought it might be fun to try making them into Cinnamon Apple Turnovers.
I’ll just tell ya’, these were even better than I expected! Everyone loved them! After a couple of bites my daughter decided she wanted me to make these for an upcoming sleepover with her “BFF”. They reminded me of the Fried Apple Pies my grandma used to make, only easier.
The Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls were great for this recipe because almost everything you need is rolled up in that little can. I’m all about convenient, especially at breakfast time.
I found the Pepperidge Farm Sweet Rolls at Walmart. In fact, Walmart is the only place I found them and they sell out fast so if you see them…buy them! Seriously, the Sweet Rolls make such a flaky crust you’re going to want to go now…get two while you’re there, trust me on this one.
I also picked up some 100% Florida Orange Juice. My husband is from Florida so we’re pretty loyal to Florida Orange Juices.
Enjoy this wonderful breakfast treat….
Here’s the Recipe:
- 1can Pepperidge Farm Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup Chopped Pecans – optional
Preheat oven as directed on package
Melt butter in a microwave safe dish
Add sugar and cinnamon and stir to form a paste
Remove Sweet Rolls from can one at a time
Roll into a ball and place on lightly floured surface
*This may seem unnecessary but I tried flattening them without this step and when they baked the yummy goodness inside oozed out the cracks….ain’t nobody got time for that!
Using a lightly floured rolling pin (or glass), roll ball flat to about 1/2 inch thickness
Spread with about 1/4 of cinnamon sugar mixture and top with 1/4 packet of filling from Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls
Top with pecans, if using
Fold in half and crimp edges with a fork
*This may not stay closed during baking but it will be enough to keep the filling in
Place on lightly greased baking sheet and bake about 15 minutes or until pastry is done
Remove from oven and top with icing packet from Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls
Serve with 100% Florida Orange Juice as a special breakfast treat.
