Pizza Pinwheels
Several months ago when I started this blog I was introduced to Pinterest. Yes, I realize I may have been the last person aware of the plethora of pictures and information that can be found on Pinterst. One of the first boards I started I titled “Recipes I Want to Try“. I’ve been pinning here for some time now and finally decided it was time to actually TRY some of them.
I started with these Pizza Pinwheels I pinned from Kristin at Dizzy, Busy, Hungry. They were the perfect addition to our homemade pizza dinner. I made some with spinach and pepperoni (for me) and the rest with just pepperoni (for everyone else). They were really easy and everyone loved them. We like lots of sauce with our pasta and pizza so I served these with a side of spaghetti sauce for dipping. We reheated the leftovers (in the oven) a couple of days later for lunch, and they were just as good as the first time. This is also a great recipe to allow children to help with.
Here’s the Recipe:
- 1 can refrigerator pizza dough
- 1-1 1/2 cups Italian cheese blend or mozzarella
- 1 package pepperoni
- baby spinach (optional)
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce for dipping
Preheat oven to 450 degrees (or whatever your package of pizza dough may say)
Spray a baking pan with non stick cooking spray or use baking stone
Unroll dough on floured surface and cover with cheese
Layer pepperoni (and spinach) on top of cheese
Starting at long side, roll carefully and fairly tightly
Pinch slightly to seal
Cut into 2 inch slices
Place pinwheels on pan and bake about 15 minutes
Serve with warm spaghetti sauce for dipping
These make a great appetizer, snack, lunch or dinner addition.

These look fantastic. I’ve made pizza rolls where the pepperoni and cheese in encased in the dough, but have never made small, bite-sized pinwheels. I’ll have to try these next time.

Thanks for stopping by Kristin! Yes, we LOVED these. I’ve made them twice now in 2 weeks. First for our family (these) and then we had a friend over for movie night. These were “requested” by my daughter. I’m glad you posted them…I’ve had a lot of “Pinterest Fails” so it was encouraging to actually have one of my Pinterest projects be successful. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother’s Day!
