Meet the Family
This is US….Meet the Family
We are a family of five living in north Texas and as the saying goes here,
“We weren’t born in Texas, but we got here as quick as we could”.
Meet my best friend. A wonderful, godly man who leads our family with gentleness, confidence and wisdom. We have been married for twenty-two years. At times it seems like I’ve known him forever and then again, it seems like it was only yesterday. We’ve had quite an adventure together. Little did I know when I said,”I do,” that our life together would involve two “cross country” moves, three amazing kids, a call into the ministry, three years of traveling the country in our mini-van, several trips to Mexico, and starting a church…in our living room….NONE of which I would change for the world!
Besides being a husband, dad, and bi-vocational pastor, he is the family grill master, football “chunker” and bookshelf-builder. He has recently become chief editor and technical support for this blog.
It was with his encouragement that I started this blog. I mentioned, in passing, that I was considering starting a blog about the thing I know most about…food. He immediately suggested the name, which comes from a favorite family verse. In less than an hour’s time I had a blog.
I am a Pastor’s wife, homeschooling mom, food loving Southern girl who’s deeply committed to three things: God, my family and preserving the beliefs and traditions of my Southern heritage.
Besides cooking, baking, eating (especially Mexican food) and blogging about it, I also love to read, travel and spend time with my family and friends. One day I hope to find an activity that somehow combines all of those things.
This is where I write about my favorite things in life…Food, Faith, Family and Fun!
Our oldest daughter turned twenty this year. After completing her formal secondary education, she has decided to be a “stay at home” daughter while pursuing her goal of becoming a godly wife and mother. She is a young lady of many talents and has a great appreciation for the “good, the true and the beautiful” especially all things cultural. Her time as a single young lady is filled wonderful ministries at our church. She is our pianist and the children’s choir director. Many of our church families are blessed by her willingness to serve in times of need. In her “spare” time she owns her own face painting business and teaches piano to eleven students.
Our second daughter is seventeen and holds the title of “resident ninja”. Despite the fact that she is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, she is able to maintain her sweet spirit and lady-like composure. She ministers as our second church pianist, plays for the children’s choir and is a great example to the younger ladies of our church. She has always been the one to bring laughter to our family. Her beautiful smile and tender heart are a blessing to all who know her.
Then there’s our son, who is ALL boy! He may not have been born in Texas, but he’s a Texan through and through. Like all good Texans he loves his boots, dad’s truck, and ALL things football. From collecting cards to completing his final year in PeeWee league, if it’s football, he loves it. He’s an amazing bundle of energy and motion and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now you see why she’s our “resident ninja”
Sisters and Friends
Just being silly
Thanks for taking the time to “meet” us

Love that verse too- I get the hymn stuck in my head all the time. Must be all the cooking I do- or God just talking. I grew up in Dallas and I miss it so much sometimes.

I stopped by your blog and noticed right away you were a Texan. I love that once you’ve lived in Texas, no matter how long or where you may move to later, you’re forever a Texan! Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

We are the ones who are blessed! As soon as we moved here we began to pray for Christian neighbors. Your family was an amazing answer to our prayers!
