Summer Party Time!
The Party Food!
This month our oldest daughter, oldest daughter, turns nineteen! How can that be? Has it really been that long? Yes, somehow it is true. She has grown into an amazing young woman, for which I am very thankful. This last year brought some major milestones, she received her driver’s license, completed high school, performed in her senior piano recital, taught nine of her own piano students, flew on an airplane by herself, and spent several weeks of the summer at various camps and conferences growing in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord“. It’s been a busy year!
Having people in our home has always been important to us, partly from our Southern heritage and partly because we are told in the Bible to be “given to hospitality.” We’ve found that entertaining is a great way to connect with other families in our church or community.
Birthdays provide the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate by having guests in our home. Our girls enjoy having friends over for a “game night.” Three things make these successful……FRIENDS, FUN, and FOOD! This year we had our largest crowd so far….fifteen friends, old and new.
This was one of the more quiet games
There’s something special about having people in your home and sharing FOOD, but many people shy away from “entertaining” because they don’t know how or they think it’s too difficult. This week I will be sharing party planning tips and recipes. Entertaining doesn’t have to be time consuming, stressful, fancy, or expensive – keep the focus on spending time together.
Maybe entertaining is something you’ve never done or maybe it’s something you already enjoy but could use some new ideas.

You have truly learned the art of biblical hospitality – making people feel welcome. Too often we are more concerned with impressing people than letting them know we are glad they are with us. Love ya!
